About the Job
Position Summary: As the Transportation Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the transportation and shipping functions and the employees involved in these processes including drivers and shipping department employees within the Distribution Center, hub employees within the Distribution Center's service area, and remote drivers within the Distribution Center's service area.
What You'll Do | Key Accountabilities
* Develop short-term plans (30 to 90 days) for the efficient use of materials, equipment and employees. Works regularly with Distribution Center management, Director of Transportation and Store management to establish plans for scheduled deliveries. Submits appropriate documentation to management for requisition of supplies. * Directs daily transportation activity and establishes delivery routes or priorities in keeping with effective operations, customer service and cost factors. Schedules appropriate 3PL shipments to stores, hubs and other DCs. Reviews and analyze transportation and shipping operations to improve service and efficiency. Strives to reduce costs associated with deliveries while maintaining high levels of customer service. * Compiles stores and retrieves data. Prepares reports for Distribution Center Manager and Director of Transportation as needed and requested. * Initiates customer service programs within the Distribution Center and Distribution Center service area to maintain strong customer relations. Empowers employees through proper training to handle customer concerns. Works directly with Distribution Center management, Director of Transportation and store management to resolve customer related concerns. * Provides employee training, recognition, performance reviews, payroll activity and discipline. Establishes and communicates employee work schedules and directs employees in the completion of work assignments. Resolves employee concerns or reports unresolved concerns to the Distribution Center Manager, Director of Transportation or Employee Relations Representative. Executes Company Human Resource policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws. * Works with Safety Coordinator to arrange all transportation-related safety programs. Participate in the investigation of accidents. Compiles and submits safety reports to Safety Coordinator. * Manages all security programs related to transportation and shipping activity. Works with Distribution Center management and Director of Transportation to carry out Company security objectives. Provides Distribution Center Manager and Director of Transportation timely updates on transportation related security problems and security equipment needs. * Schedules and executes the timely completion of regular maintenance on all delivery vehicles and shipping equipment. Consults with Distribution Center Manager and Director of Transportation and, with approval, schedules outside vendors to maintain delivery vehicles and shipping equipment. Provides Distribution Center Manager proper and timely invoices for payment from outside vendors. * Participates, at the Distribution Center Manager's direction, in periodic and special inventories. Resolves transfer discrepancies in conjunction with direction from Inventory Control department. * Leads and/or participates in special projects as assigned by the Distribution Center Manager or Director of Transportation.
Skills & Experience
* Demonstrated experience in an operation environment; applicable management experience (2 to 5 years) * Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Work Environment:
This job operates in an office and distribution/hub environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers & keyboards, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

The starting salary for this position is $80,704 - $107,593 and may increase to $134,493 depending on merit, length of service with the Company, and other factors. We take into consideration an individual's skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
