The Paid Search Strategy Manager at Butler/Till leads a team that supports small business clients in our Paid Search program while remaining hands-on with campaign execution and optimization. This role balances approximately 50% client support and consultation with 50% media activation, reporting, and performance optimization.
This manager ensures their team delivers best-in-class education, consultation, and support, helping business owners understand how paid search drives their business outcomes. They collaborate with clients to optimize performance, clearly communicate insights, and translate data into meaningful stories. Strong communication, client-focused problem solving, and deep knowledge of our paid search offering are essential.
This role also oversees escalation management, ensuring complex issues are resolved effectively. Success requires strong customer focus, collaboration, agility, discipline, and a results-driven mindset in a fast-paced environment.
Key Outcome: Client Support and Education
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team that supports small business owners through Paid Search execution and ongoing service.
- Ensure delivery of excellent customer service while representing and advocating for the Paid Search program.
- Serve as subject matter experts in paid search for both clients and internal teams.
- Educate clients and internal teams on paid search fundamentals and program details.
- Collaborate closely with Account Services, Analytics, Data Engineering and other teams for cross-functional work.
- Manage prioritization of support tickets, phone calls and email inquiries/escalations.
- Provide performance read outs and insights, showcasing how both their team and the larger Paid Search team’s work drives business outcomes.
- Coach clients on appropriate budget and investment levels.
- Ensure each Paid Search Strategists plays a key role in client engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Drive consistent, high-quality client experience across all team interactions.
Key Outcome: Measurement and Reporting
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns to clients.
- Clearly articulate the drivers behind performance improvements and define recommended optimizations and next steps.
- Translate campaign performance data into clear, meaningful insights and narratives.
- Use performance analysis to identify optimization opportunities and improve media results.
- Apply data-driven insights to help clients achieve their business goals.
- Ensure the team consistently communicates the impact and value of paid search performance.
- Effectively communicates and educates internal teams on performance nuances, citing team-driven optimizations and/or external factors that impacted performance.
- Identify trends in data and the sentiment from small business owners enrolled in our Paid Search Program.
- Acts as channel subject matter expert; field any questions and/or provide any follow-ups to channel-specific inquiries.
- Collaborate with Analytics to ensure data accuracy in dashboards and recommend appropriate KPIs for recommended channel activation strategies.
- Collaborate with channel peers to understand cross-channel dependencies and build synergistic strategies to further overall campaign performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights, offer recommendations and optimizations to exceed campaign benchmarks and client business objectives.
- Continuously analyze key performance metrics to measure effectiveness of campaign initiatives.
- Support in identifying testing opportunities quarterly, contributing to testing briefs, recommendations, and execution plans.
- Lead Strategists in developing POVs and thought leadership materials to educate internal and client stakeholders on strategy shifts, account restructuring, and key initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a bridge between the Paid Search team and client needs, concerns, and perspectives
- Support the Planning team in developing channel plans, including budget forecasts, bid and campaign strategies, account structure, competitive insights, testing opportunities, and actionable learnings
- Serve as a knowledgeable and vocal contributor in defining paid search approach by addressing cross‑functional questions and inquiries
- Collaborate with Analytics, Planning, and Account Service teams to develop reporting and craft clear, effective client communications
- Partner cross‑functionally to author thought leadership materials, including POVs, blog posts, white papers, and speaking content

- Manage a team; set clear, outcome-based performance goals. Establish and maintain development plans for each.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading a team that manages and leads campaigns in the channel ecosystem.
- Minimum 4 years of client-facing experience.
- Experience with strategic planning and applied experience of bringing plans to execution.
- Proven track record in operating with a high-level of integrity, commitment, and enthusiasm to take on a challenging role with cross-functional commitments. Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables/charts, etc.)
Preferred:
- Experience working in multi-location marketing and/or highly regulated industries.
- Proactive and curious attitude. Strong problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with rapidly changing priorities.
- Use of advanced Search bidding platforms (SA360, Marin, etc.)
- Experience in customer-facing roles about paid media performance and strategy.

Compensation
Butler/Till is committed to providing pay transparency of our compensation philosophy and ensuring equitable pay practices for our employee owners. The compensation range for this position is $66,000- $104,000 and represents the annual salary range in Rochester, NY. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.
This is just one component of Butler/Till’s total compensation package for employee owners. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including ESOP (employee stock ownership plan), an annual bonus, in addition to a full benefits package, and paid time off benefits, including 100% paid parental leave. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
