Job Description
An acclaimed Los Angeles fine dining restaurant is seeking an experienced Pastry Chef to lead its pastry program in collaboration with an award-winning Chef/Owner. Our restaurant is recognized citywide for its seasonal, ingredient-driven cuisine and commitment to technical excellence, and the pastry department is integral to the guest experience. This is a working leadership position for a chef who maintains a daily presence in production and thrives in a high-volume, quality-focused environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of pastry production, including plated desserts, breakfast pastries, artisan breads, viennoiserie, and components for private dining and special events
- Execute with technical proficiency across laminated doughs, entremets, and contemporary plated dessert composition during lunch and dinner service
- Supervise, mentor, schedule, and develop a pastry team of three to five cooks
- Manage departmental administration: purchasing, inventory control, recipe development, and detailed food and labor costing
- Collaborate with the Chef/Owner on seasonal menu development, research and development projects, and strategic planning
- Uphold exacting standards of quality, consistency, and hospitality in all pastry offerings
The successful candidate will bring a minimum of three years’ experience as a Pastry Chef or Lead Pastry Cook within a fine dining or high-volume establishment, along with demonstrated success managing a team of three or more. Creative input is welcomed and expected, with the understanding that the Chef/Owner provides final approval on all menu offerings to ensure alignment with the restaurant’s culinary vision. A formal culinary education or equivalent professional training is preferred, as is experience developing and maintaining a bread program and familiarity with dietary accommodations in a fine dining context.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: Up to $115,000 annually, commensurate with experience
