Payroll / Senior Payroll Officer - Cleveland

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking enthusiastic Payroll professionals to join our National / Group Payroll Team in Cleveland.

We are currently recruiting for two positions:

• Senior Payroll Officer (2IC to Payroll Manager)
• Payroll Officer (supporting a specialist division within the business)

Both roles sit within a high-performing payroll function supporting a national organisation, with exposure to a variety of Awards, systems and payroll complexities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Payroll Manager leads the function from a technical perspective, while the Senior Payroll Officer operates as the key day-to-day support across the team.

The Senior Payroll Officer will act as the 2IC to the Payroll Manager, taking on a key leadership role within the team. You will be the primary escalation point for payroll queries, provide mentoring and support to the broader payroll team, and assist in ensuring the smooth operation of the function.

A key part of this role is oversight of a more complex payroll stream within the business, which sits in a construction-based environment. This includes interpretation of Awards, overtime, allowances and timesheet-based payroll. You will act as the key point of contact for this function and provide coverage when required.

The Payroll Officer role will sit within this same specialist area, taking ownership of the day-to-day processing. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage more complex, award-driven payroll.

ABOUT YOU

• Experience in a Payroll Officer or Senior Payroll Officer role within a corporate environment
• Strong experience with Frontier iChris is essential
• Experience with time and attendance systems (UKG / Kronos highly regarded)
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel
• Solid understanding of payroll operations, systems and processes
• Proven ability to interpret and apply Awards, legislation and company policies
• Exposure to construction or award-heavy payroll environments (highly regarded)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support and work collaboratively across a team
• Excellent attention to detail and time management
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and stepping into more complex payroll scenarios when required
