The purpose of the PMO Analyst role is to support the Programme Office Manager in the governance, reporting, control and administration of all projects and programmes within the IT Portfolio. This role involves analysis of all core project or programme artefacts to ensure delivery approaches and decisions are controlled and justified. It may also act as a support function to IT Delivery/Programme Managers, providing administrative services such as meeting arrangements, meeting slide preparation, risk management tracking, meeting minutes, and other support.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of data and project deliverables to ensure adherence to all timeframe and budget requirements.
- Preparation of various reports to identify all programme delivery risks and coordinate with the IT Delivery/Programme Manager and Workstream Lead for follow‑up action.
- Undertake regular project status calls on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Administration of Programme and Portfolio meetings; includes managing dates, creating agendas and collating papers in advance.
- Completion and circulation of meeting minutes and action tracking.
- Dependency identification, management, tracking and reporting.
- Assist with the compilation of weekly and monthly Programme status reports as requested by the PMO Manager.
- Provide independent challenge on project status, risks, assumptions and forecasts.
- Escalate material risks, issues or deviations from governance standards.
- Support financial governance including budget tracking, forecasting, variance analysis and benefits realisation reporting.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of project and portfolio data across all reporting cycles.
- Expose to enterprise‑scale IT programmes and opportunity to develop towards senior PMO or portfolio leadership roles.
Qualifications
- Degree level education in IT or Business Management related subject matter.
- Experience working across both traditional (PRINCE2) and Agile/Lean delivery environments, supporting hybrid delivery models.
- At least 5 years IT PMO experience.
- Previous knowledge and experience of working in the Utility sector is desirable.
- Skills as an able user of MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Experience working with PPM and reporting tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Project for the Web, MS Project, Power BI or similar) desirable.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with teams of all levels.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and initiative.
- Approachable, flexible and efficient in a fast‑moving environment.
