Position Overview
This position manages the University policy program. The duties include daily management and process reviews of the University Policy Manual (UPM) website and the System policy repository, conducting end‑to‑end policy reviews according to the 6‑year policy review cycle, triaging policy issues, supporting maintenance processes, and helping set the strategic direction of the policy program under the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). The role collaborates with the University community, establishes and maintains relationships with various UNT offices, provides education and assistance, benchmarks policies with outside organizations, and offers guidance on emerging policy trends.
Job Duties
- Serve as the key contact for UNT policies and manage the policy revision and development process.
- Collaborate daily with policy owners and stakeholders to assess policy needs, guide policies through their revision life cycle, and propose new policies as needed.
- Assist policy owners in reviewing policies to ensure compliance with university standards and avoid conflicts or duplication.
- Coordinate the policy review and approval process with PAG, Office of General Counsel, President’s Office, and others.
- Manage daily use of multiple software programs for policy review and tracking.
- Develop systems to track policy review statuses and communicate progress.
- Ensure consistent style, structure, and documentation of policy changes.
- Organize cyclical reviews of UPM policies and maintain a historical database of current and former policies.
- Work with leadership on policy development and management.
- Analyze and improve policy workflow processes and advise CCO on program improvements and reporting.
- Develop training and briefing materials related to the University policy program.
- Maintain the UPM website and policy communications.
- Attend continuing professional development seminars and conferences; collaborate with stakeholder offices on pending legislation and associated policy requirements.
- Distribute new and revised policies campus‑wide.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public policy, business administration, communications, or a related field and five years of professional policy development, management, or coordination experience, or equivalent.

- Commitment to teamwork across organizational levels and boundaries.
- Ability to deliver information effectively in one‑on‑one, team settings, presentations, and various written forms (letters, memos, analytical reports, decision documents).
- Research, evaluate, analyze complex or conflicting data/information, develop valid conclusions and recommendations, and prepare clear concise reports on complex subject matter.
- Proficiency with multiple software platforms, including Windows‑based email, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, project and policy management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience managing a policy program including policy and training development and procedure documentation for end users.
- Technical writing experience.
- Legal experience.
Work Schedule
8 am – 5 pm – Hybrid.
