Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages exempt individual contributors and/or supervisors and has accountability for results of a major program in terms of cost, direction and people management. Provides guidance on process improvements and recommends changes aligning with business tactics and strategy for area of responsibility.
Plans, manages and monitors operational/tactical activities. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. Typically reports to MG2 or Director.
Responsibilities
- Managing the Business
- Manage a group of presales resources to provide account support or shared resource support.
- Resource management & intra-region support – create presales utilization plans reflecting requirements and opportunities.
- Collaborate with peers to address regional presales coverage gaps and leverage technical expertise to win opportunities.
- Partner with Sales & account planning – assist in planning sales strategy, collaborate on resource utilization, assess sales pipelines to ensure appropriate utilization.
- Business Acumen
- Monitor, troubleshoot and improve area‑of‑control operations for alignment with business direction, quality and performance.
- Understand business, financial and legal concepts to develop meaningful recommendations.
- Leading & Managing Presales People
- Coaching – assess and manage employee performance, counsel through selling challenges, manage performance of high and low performers.
- Leadership – model effective selling skills, motivate, support presales teams, demonstrate support for deal closure.
- People Development – nurture and advance talent, sponsor skill‑building activities, ensure technical acumen across the group.
- Selling as a Presales Manager
- Strategic Direction – understand company/BU strategic direction and portfolio, assist sales teams in customizing solutions.
- Consultative Selling – coach team on consultative‑selling techniques, demo client‑sensitive practices.
- Financial Selling – build business cases linking proposals to customers’ goals, strategies and metrics.
Education and Experience
- University or Bachelor’s degree.
- 10+ years experience in pre‑sales sales.
- Directly related management experience and work results, including success in achieving progressively higher quota or other sales‑related goals.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Specialized knowledge – Storage (preferred).
- Experience in Manager/Leadership positions strongly preferred.

Salary and Location
The expected salary range for this position is USD 161,000 - 378,000 in the United States (Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina). This reflects the minimum to maximum combined base and target‑level sales compensation if the hire performs at 100% of their plan, with an 80%/20% base‑to‑target split.
