Job Summary
The President’s Intern will actively support and communicate the president’s initiatives through participation in strategic events, content creation, and social media management. The role involves engaging with community and college events, crafting strategic content to promote initiatives, and maintaining the president’s presence on digital platforms. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing and Strategy.
Essential Job Functions
- Event participation as directed
- Content creation
- Social media management
- Reporting and documentation
- Leadership development and training participation
- Participate in strategic communication planning
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- HS Diploma/GED or current dually enrolled student
- Open to current Carroll Community College students only
- Ability to follow specific directions provided by the supervisor and accept constructive feedback
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Effective communication skills – ability to interact with diverse student body, faculty, staff, and community members
- Effective computer skills (MS Office)
- Knowledge of and ability to create content on and manage College social media platforms
- Ability to operate basic office equipment
- Active listening skills and ability to understand and communicate information clearly
- Positive, flexible, cooperative, and supportive attitude
- Successfully complete a criminal background check (for designated positions)
- Be able to work on campus as of the first day of employment
- Residency and tax requirements: Must be a resident of DC, VA, WV, MD, or PA on the date employment commences, and must work in Maryland the majority of time. Must be willing to attend campus for identity verification within 3 business days of hire date.
- Be currently authorized to work in the US (no Visa sponsorship available)
- Complete an employment application upon request prior to progressing through the initial interview process
Physical Demands
Staffs generally sit and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Required physical abilities include:
- Communication – able to exchange information
- Visual acuity to perceive surroundings
- Mental acuity – focus, concentration, comprehension, and conveyance of subject matter
- Repetitive motion such as keyboarding
- Movements – standing, sitting, walking, moving from one area to another
Work Environment
College campus with direct contact with students, staff, faculty, and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and shared spaces. Environment involves normal office risks and requires safe workplace practices. The internship is conducted in a controlled and supportive setting focusing on digital tasks and structured engagements. Part‑time position (<15 hours per week).
