Principal Accountant - Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting

Overview Job Description The Principal Accountant will join our Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting group to work on interesting and complex accounting issues. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting and involves researching technical accounting matters, preparing technical accounting memorandums, developing and maintaining accounting policies, ensuring US GAAP and SEC compliance, and implementing accounting standards updates. The role supports internal and external audits, maintains internal controls, administers Workiva, and partners with various levels of personnel across the organization to deliver accurate and timely financial information.

Responsibilities Research technical accounting matters and prepare technical accounting memorandums on topics such as business combinations, stock compensation, derivatives, leases, revenue recognition, and more. Assist with development and maintenance of accounting policies with a focus on standardization and simplification. Assist entity and segment-level accountants with the accounting for unique transactions.

Stay up to date on changes to US GAAP and SEC reporting and implement new accounting standards updates and SEC regulations. Assist with ensuring compliance with SEC, US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. Prepare and present potential solutions and alternative accounting approaches in accordance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.

Demonstrate willingness to learn, grow, and develop to become a subject matter expert. Participate in documenting required disclosures for quarterly and annual filings of Forms 10-Q/10-K. Evaluate business situations to identify key accounting issues; analyze the impact of solutions and assist in implementing them.

Present critical information to other departments, management, and external auditors in a clear and concise manner. Be proactive and use critical thinking in problem solving. Qualifications 8+ years' accounting/finance experience or equivalent public accounting experience. 5+ years' experience with quarterly and annual SEC reports. 5+ years' experience interpreting or implementing complex accounting standards.

Working knowledge of financial systems/applications (Workiva, HFM, Smart View, SAP, Microsoft Suite). CPA Certification. We Value Experience in researching complex accounting issues, preparing technical accounting memos, and implementing accounting standards updates.

Ability to translate technical accounting guidance into understandable content for broader audiences. Experience writing and maintaining global accounting policies. Strong financial and analytical skills with creative thinking.

Public accounting experience with advanced understanding of US GAAP. Experience with multinational public companies. Ability to adapt to changing environments and work independently or as part of a team.
