Overview
Join City of Moreton Bay as a Principal Disaster Program Officer, helping shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.
Base pay range
A$110,000.00/yr - A$150,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Review and develop disaster recovery policies and strategies to align with sector best practices and actively promote Council’s leadership in the field.
- Work with the Principal Disaster Management & Engagement Officer to integrate community engagement and capacity-building activities into resilience-building programs.
- Raise awareness and assist local government partners in prioritising critical objectives outlined in the Recovery Sub Plan.
- Develop and sustain the Council’s recovery capability.
- Provide analysis and expert advice to Moreton Bay Local Disaster Management and Recovery Groups.
- Manage the budget within the delegations of this position.
- Fulfil duties in the Moreton Recovery Group and On Call arrangements, as required.
About you / Qualifications
- Experience leading a small team and delivering disaster recovery programs with a resilience-building and community development approach.
- Excellent people and relationship management skills to work with stakeholders from all levels of government, non-government organisations, support services and residents.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills to empower disaster preparedness.
- Experience building productive relationships with statutory authorities, government agencies and community entities.
- Detailed knowledge of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA) and other relevant statutory requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure, including engaging community members exposed to trauma and direct impacts of disaster.
