Product Development Technician

Job Description
We are seeking a Product Development Technician to provide essential technical support to our Product Development Chemists in Fouling Control. As a Product Development Technician, you will play a crucial role in executing laboratory procedures, sample preparation, and characterization of the products. This work is critical to our product development process and you will support the research, development, and modification of formulations designed to prevent the growth of unwanted organisms on the hull of a ship.
Key Responsibilities
- Laboratory support & sample preparation
- Prepare and apply paint prototypes
- Perform various characterization techniques under chemist guidance
- Maintain accurate sample tracking and documentation
Testing & Analysis Support
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical experiments and analyses for research, development, or quality control purposes
- Assist in research and development of fouling control formulations
- Develop and validate laboratory methods
- Document test procedures, results, and observations accurately
- Maintain laboratory notebooks and electronic records
- Communicate findings clearly to chemists and project teams
Equipment Management
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments
- Maintain laboratory equipment related to Fouling Control testing
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment
Qualifications
- MBO/HBO in Chemistry/Materials science/Polymer science or related fields
- +2 years of hands‑on laboratory experience, preferably in coatings, formulation, or related industries
- Experience with coating characterization methods is advantageous
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Team collaboration skills
- Problem‑solving mindset
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and protocols
- Excellent command of English language
- Driver’s license is advantageous
