Job Description
Job Summary The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and overseeing manufacturing operations to ensure on-time delivery, efficient workflow, proper material availability, and high-quality output. This role works cross-functionally with Sales/CSR, Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality, and Operations to balance customer demand with capacity, labor, and material constraints while supporting continuous improvement and a safe work environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Production Planning & Scheduling Develop, maintain, and adjust daily, weekly, and long-term production schedules.
Release shop/work orders on time and monitor progress through the production cycle. Establish priorities for customers, VMI, rework, prototype, and special orders. Identify, communicate, and resolve production bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and schedule risks.
Coordinate R&D prototype builds with Operations and Engineering. Level production based on labor, equipment, and material constraints. Material Planning & Inventory Control Plan and allocate materials to support production schedules and customer demand.
Coordinate with Purchasing, Receiving, and Warehouse to ensure timely material availability. Monitor VMI production orders, customer demand, and inventory levels. Analyze inventory performance (AWD / Days on Hand) and maintain stock within targets.
Participate in cycle counts, annual physical inventory, adjustments, and root‑cause analysis. Notify CSR of material shortages and delivery risks as early as possible. ERP, Reporting & Documentation Complete and update work orders and schedules within ERP system (NetSuite preferred).
Track schedule adherence, throughput, labor, and production performance. Maintain accurate production, inventory, and cost records. Prepare and present production status and performance reports to management.
Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, company policies, and documentation requirements. Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement Monitor production processes to ensure quality standards are met. Report quality issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Enforce safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Analyze and improve production processes to increase efficiency and reduce lead times. Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Leadership & Cross‑Functional Coordination Supervise or coordinate production and assembly personnel as assigned. Support employee training in production processes and safety. Monitor performance and recommend corrective actions or personnel changes as needed.
Coordinate closely with Sales/CSR, Purchasing, Quality, Warehouse, and Management. Communicate priorities, risks, and schedule changes clearly across teams. Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable production culture.
Qualifications & Experience Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. 2–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, production supervision, or material planning within a manufacturing environment. APICS coursework or certification preferred. Experience with ERP/MRP systems required.
Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of MRP fundamentals, capacity planning, and shop‑floor control. Ability to read CAD drawings, assembly instructions, and technical specifications. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work independently and cross‑functionally. Must be able to lift 20–40 lbs as required.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as needed.
