Hourly Architectural Designer / Project Assistant (San Francisco Bay Area)
Part-time, 10–12 hours/month to start — flexible, independent work with growth potential
We are a residential architecture practice based in the Bay Area, focused on thoughtful, timeless single-family homes and the occasional small commercial project. Our work is warm, design-forward, and detail-driven, and we’re looking for someone who can become a trusted extension of our team.
About the Role
This is an hourly, contractor-style position—perfect for someone who wants flexible, independent work and the chance to learn a ton about real residential architecture in the Bay Area. There are no employee benefits and no fixed salary associated with this role. Hours start at roughly 10–12 per month, with the opportunity to grow into a larger role or take on full projects independently if it’s a great match.
Responsibilities
- Visit active job sites across San Francisco and surrounding areas
- Assist with city permitting tasks, including in-person submittals as needed
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and consultants
- Document site conditions with notes, measurements, photos, and sketches
- Opportunity to take ownership of full project phases depending on experience
Requirements
- Located in the San Francisco Bay Area with the ability to travel to project sites
- Valid driver’s license and reliable car
- Proficiency in Revit 2026
- Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with contractors, clients, and city officials
- Highly detail-oriented, resourceful, proactive, and self-directed
- Positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
