Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) – Part Time | Manhattan, NY
Location: Manhattan, NY (83 Maiden Lane)
Schedule: 21 hours/week (0.6 FTE)
Setting: Non-Profit | OPWDD & OMH Behavioral Health Services
Position Summary
Under a collaborative agreement with a licensed psychiatrist and in compliance with NYS Education Law and OMH clinic regulations, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serves as a primary psychiatric provider for individuals across the lifespan with IDD and co-occurring mental health conditions. This role focuses on comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary care within Article 31/MHOTRS and community programs.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, mental status exams, and diagnostic assessments
- Provide medication management and psychopharmacology oversight
- Manage complex cases including SMI, polypharmacy, and treatment-resistant conditions
- Develop individualized treatment plans with patients, families, and care teams
- Provide crisis intervention and risk/safety planning
- Deliver psychoeducation and ongoing treatment monitoring
Specialized Population (IDD)
- Adapt care approaches for individuals with cognitive, communication, and behavioral needs
- Collaborate with behavioral specialists, DSPs, and family supports
- Apply person-centered and trauma-informed practices
Compliance & Collaboration
- Maintain OMH/OPWDD-compliant documentation in EMR
- Participate in audits, quality improvement, utilization review, and reporting
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community providers
- Provide training and consultation to staff on psychiatric care in IDD populations
Qualifications
Required
- Active NYS Nurse Practitioner license with Psychiatric specialty
- PMHNP-BC certification
- Minimum 2 years of psychiatric clinical experience
- Knowledge of OMH and OPWDD regulations
- Experience with EHR and telehealth
- Ability to travel between service sites as needed
Preferred
- Experience working with individuals with IDD
- DNP or PhD in Psychiatric Nursing
- Dual certification (adult & pediatric psych)
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred)

Salary & Benefits
- Salary: $96,000 annually (prorated for 0.6 FTE)
