Quality Control Engineer Barrow-in-Furness Permanent About the Role We're looking for a Quality Control Engineer to join our team supporting major projects in Cumbria, with a key focus on our BAE Systems site in Barrow-in-Furness. In this role, you'll play a critical part in ensuring that all products, services, and project deliverables meet stringent regulatory, legislative, and customer requirements. You'll work at the heart of project delivery-driving quality assurance, strengthening compliance, and championing a "Right First Time" culture.
What you'll be doing Quality & Compliance Ensure all project activities meet contractual, regulatory, and company quality standardsDevelop and maintain inspection, test, and quality plans aligned to customer requirementsOversee document control, configuration management, and technical submissionsManage non-conformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives Project Assurance Deliver progressive assurance across the full project lifecycleEnsure inspections, testing, and handover documentation are completed and compliantProvide clear reporting on quality performance, risks, and trends Stakeholder & Team Engagement Act as a key member of the project team, providing expert quality guidanceBuild strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and supply chain partnersPromote a proactive quality culture across all teams and contractors Risk & Improvement Identify and mitigate quality-related risksCapture and share lessons learned across projects and the wider businessDrive continuous improvement and best practice adoption Supply Chain Quality Monitor and report on supply chain quality performanceSupport suppliers in delivering against quality expectations and plans What We're Looking For Experience & Skills Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management best practiceExperience in quality assurance within engineering, construction, or major projectsExcellent attention to detail and organisational skillsStrong communication skills-confident engaging at all levelsProficient in Microsoft Office and quality systems What we're looking for in this individual A safety-first mindset with a commitment to high standardsAbility to influence and engage teams and stakeholdersProactive, solutions-focused approach with strong problem-solving skillsPassion for continuous improvement and delivering excellence Benefits 25 days holidayday per annum, plus bank holidaysPension with leading provider and up to 8% employer contributionPrivate healthcareFree 24/7 365 Employee assistance program to support mental health and wellbeing (including counselling sessions and legal advice)DiscountsPersonal development programmeFlexible BenefitsCar/Car allowance Next Steps: As a business, we're on a journey to build on our culture where everyone is included, treated fairly and with respect.
