Job Purpose:
The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inbound & outbound material activities to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant receipt of raw materials, packaging, and supplies. This role leads the receiving team, enforces safety and food safety standards, maintains inventory accuracy, and partners closely with Purchasing, Quality, Production, and Warehouse teams to support uninterrupted operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving OperationsOversee daily receiving operations, including scheduling inbound deliveries and unloading activities, including treatments.Ensure accurate receipt of raw materials, packaging, and supplies against purchase orders and bills of ladingVerify counts, lot codes, expiration dates, and condition of materials upon receiptEnsure materials are properly labeled, staged, and transferred to appropriate storage locations
Inventory Accuracy & SystemsEnsure timely and accurate transaction processing in the inventory management system (ERP/WMS)Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies, shortages, damages, or mis-shipmentsSupport cycle counts and audits by maintaining accurate inbound inventory recordsPartner with Inventory Control to prevent inventory variances tied to receiving errors
Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop receiving associates to meet safety, quality, and productivity standardsAssign daily work, set priorities, and ensure adequate coverage across shiftsTrain team members on SOPs, food safety, GMPs, and material handling practicesAddress performance issues promptly and partner with HR on corrective action when needed
Safety, Quality & ComplianceEnforce OSHA, GMP, food safety, and company safety policies within receiving operationsEnsure proper handling and storage of food-grade and allergen-sensitive materialsMaintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready receiving areaSupport internal and external audits related to receiving and warehouse operations
Cross-Functional CollaborationCommunicate delivery issues or shortages that may impact production schedulesPartner with Quality on holds, inspections, non-conforming materials, and release processesCoordinate with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve delivery and documentation issuesSupport Production and Warehouse teams to ensure materials are available when neededContinuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve receiving flow, dock utilization, and labor efficiencySupport process improvements related to material flow, accuracy, and safetyParticipate in operational meetings and contribute to problem-solving effortsQualifications/Requirements
RequiredHigh school diploma or GED3+ years of warehouse or receiving experience in a manufacturing or food environment1+ year of supervisory or lead experienceWorking knowledge of inventory systems (ERP or WMS)Strong understanding of safety, GMPs, and material handling best practicesPreferredExperience in food manufacturing or regulated environmentsForklift certification (or ability to obtain)Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plusExperience supporting audits and inventory controlsSkills/AbilitiesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to lead and hold teams accountableClear communication across departments and shiftsProblem-solving mindset with a focus on root causeAbility to prioritize in a fast-paced environmentData-driven approach to accuracy and efficiencyIntermediate Microsoft Office or other software applications Ability to lift up to 55 pounds (anything over 55 lbs, team lift)Physical Demands

We offer a competitive compensation package with benefits. The estimated salary for this role will be $73,000 to $85,000. This position is eligible for an annual bonus (based on the incentive program terms and conditions). Based on your qualifications, previous experience, and transferable skills, the company will determine, at its discretion, the salary offered and will reflect the market conditions and cost of living for your geographic location.
