Senior Scrum Master – Data & AI

Location: Des Moines, IA

Duration: Contract (with potential extension or conversion)

We are partnering with a leading financial services organization to hire a Senior Scrum Master supporting enterprise Data and AI initiatives. This role will work across cloud data platform engineering, analytics, data integration, and AI and machine learning teams to drive delivery, improve team performance, and enable meaningful business outcomes.

This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible role helping shape how data and AI capabilities are built and scaled across the organization. You will work closely with engineers, Product Owners, architects, and business stakeholders to create alignment, improve delivery flow, and support adoption of new technologies including emerging AI capabilities.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a servant leader for Data and AI engineering teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Guide teams in applying Agile practices in a way that supports delivery and outcomes, not just process
• Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to maintain well‑defined backlogs aligned to business value
• Use metrics such as cycle time, throughput, and flow trends to identify improvement opportunities
• Proactively identify and remove team and organizational impediments
• Drive collaboration across platform engineering, data engineering, analytics, and business teams
• Support transparency and delivery tracking through tools like Azure DevOps

What You’ll Bring

• 5 to 8+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach
• At least 2+ years supporting data engineering, platform, or AI and machine learning teams
• Strong experience working in complex, cross‑functional, matrixed environments
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience helping teams adopt new technologies or improve delivery processes

Preferred Certifications

CSM, PSM II, SAFe Scrum Master, or similar

Technical Exposure

• Familiarity with data pipelines, cloud platforms such as Azure and Snowflake, and ETL or ELT processes
• Understanding of analytics and AI or machine learning workflows
• Awareness of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code
• Experience coordinating work across multiple engineering teams and shared platforms
