SDET (Retail Banking – API & Microservices Automation) | Bangalore | 5 Years Important: Please do NOT apply if your primary experience is Selenium/UI automation. Do not apply if your API automation experience is limited to Postman-only usage. This role requires strong coding-based API automation (Java) and deep backend validation.
We are looking for a Senior SDET with 5 years of experience who brings strong hands-on expertise in Java-based API automation , solid understanding of API engineering fundamentals , and experience testing microservices-driven systems in retail banking environments . This role is suited for engineers who go beyond writing test scripts—those who understand system behavior, validate integrations end-to-end, and take ownership of quality outcomes . What You’ll Do Design, develop, and maintain scalable API and microservices automation frameworks using Java Test Java-based APIs, microservices, core banking services, and payment flows Validate end-to-end service interactions, integrations, and customer journeys Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and participate in defect triage Collaborate with backend, payments, cloud, and product teams to ensure high-quality releases Contribute to test design, planning, and execution strategies Continuously improve automation coverage and quality practices Must-Have Skills 5 years of experience in SDET / QA Automation roles Strong programming expertise in Java (mandatory) Hands-on experience with API automation tools: REST Assured Postman / Newman (supporting, not primary) Karate (preferred but not mandatory) Experience testing API-first and microservices-based architectures Strong understanding of: Service contracts Mocking and stubbing JSON / XML validation API schema validation Integration testing patterns Exposure to Retail Banking domain : Accounts, payments, cards, onboarding, transactions Experience with CI/CD tools : Jenkins, Git, Maven / Gradle Strong debugging skills using Linux, logs, and backend tracing Good understanding of API fundamentals (endpoints, payloads, status codes, authentication) Good to Have Experience contributing to test planning, reporting, and quality tracking Familiarity with banking regulatory and compliance testing Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber) and reporting tools (Allure, Extent) Basic exposure to performance testing tools (JMeter / k6) Understanding of API security (OAuth2, JWT, certificate-based authentication) What We’re Looking For Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams Ownership mindset—someone who follows through on quality outcomes Focus on customer-impacting scenarios , not just coverage Consistent drive to deliver with precision and quality How you will grow At Deloitte, our professional development plan focuses on helping people at every level of their career to identify and use their strengths to do their best work every day.
