Search Engine Optimisation Manager
RevSoc Digital
Job Description
Role OverviewAs SEO Manager at RevSoc, you will own end-to-end SEO delivery across our portfolio. This is not a junior coordinator role - you will lead strategy, run technical audits, manage execution, build client-facing reports, and coach a junior executive (Sahu) plus any freelancers we engage. This role requires command of modern SEO in 2026 - including AI-powered search (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini), Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), Core Web Vitals, structured data, E-E-A-T signals, and the post-Helpful-Content-Update content landscape. SEO has changed dramatically in the last 18 months.
We need someone who has actively adapted, not someone running 2020 playbooks. What success looks like in this role Within 90 days: every SEO client has a documented quarterly Operating Plan, a baseline audit, and visible monthly progress. Within 6 months: at least 50% of clients show measurable improvement in keyword rankings, organic traffic, and organic-led leads. Within 12 months: SEO becomes a recognised growth driver in client conversations - not a checkbox service.
Key Responsibilities1. SEO Strategy & Client Operating PlansDevelop quarterly SEO Operating Plans for every assigned client - covering keyword strategy, content roadmap, technical fixes, link-building targets, and measurable 90-day outcomes.Set realistic, defensible targets for keyword visibility, organic traffic growth, and organic-led conversions - and own the delivery against those targets.Conduct client onboarding audits - full technical, on-page, off-page, and competitor analysis - within the first 14 days of any new SEO engagement.Refresh client plans every quarter based on results, market changes, and Google algorithm updates.2. Technical SEO & On-Page OptimisationLead technical SEO audits using tools like Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Ahrefs, Semrush, Google Search Console, and PageSpeed Insights.Diagnose and fix issues across crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, canonicalisation, schema markup, and Core Web Vitals.Own on-page optimisation: title tags, meta descriptions, H1/H2 structure, content optimisation, schema implementation, and internal link maps.Coordinate with client developer teams (or our internal web team for our Project clients) to implement technical fixes.Build and maintain XML sitemaps, robots.txt configurations, and structured data (JSON-LD) for all SEO clients.3.
Off-Page SEO & Link Building (with Sahu)Plan link-building strategies for each client - including guest posts, digital PR, niche-edits, citation building, and outreach campaigns.Quality-control 100% of backlinks created by Sahu and freelancers before they are reported to clients or counted in internal metrics.Define and enforce backlink quality standards - DA thresholds, niche relevance, follow/nofollow ratios, anchor diversity, and spam-score limits.Identify and disavow toxic backlinks proactively - review backlink profiles monthly for new spam links.Build relationships with publishers, bloggers, and journalists for ongoing earned links - not just transactional placements.4. AI Search & Modern SEO (Critical for 2026)Optimise client content for visibility in AI-powered search engines - ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot.Implement Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) techniques - including structured content, semantic markup, and citation-friendly writing.Build E-E-A-T signals systematically - author bios, citations, original research, expert quotes, schema markup for Person/Organization/Article.Stay current on Google's evolving guidelines around AI-generated content, helpful content, product reviews, and core updates.Identify which of our clients can win in AI search and which categories require different strategies (e.g., local SEO vs. e-commerce vs. B2B).5.
Reporting, Analytics & Client CommunicationOwn the Weekly Internal SEO Report - submit every Monday by 11 AM to Sarath and Harsha. No reminders will be sent. This is non-negotiable.Produce Monthly Client SEO Reports - delivered to each SEO client in the first week of every month, covering keyword wins, traffic trends, conversion impact, and next month's plan.Lead monthly client review calls - present results clearly, set context for ranking changes, defend the strategy, and align on the next month's priorities.Set up and maintain rank tracking, GSC properties, GA4 funnels, and conversion tracking for every SEO client.Translate SEO metrics into business outcomes - leads, revenue, market share - when speaking to clients.
Clients don't care about DA scores; they care about growth.6. Team Leadership & Quality ControlManage Sahu (SEO Executive) - set weekly priorities, review output, coach on quality, and guide career growth.Hire, brief, and quality-control freelance SEO contributors when capacity demands - without compromising on quality standards.Build SOPs for repeatable SEO processes - onboarding audits, monthly reporting, technical reviews, content briefs.Train Account Managers (Anita, Vineeth, Sanjana, Abhishek) on SEO basics so they can speak credibly with clients between formal review calls.7. Algorithm Watch & Continuous ImprovementMonitor Google algorithm updates (core, helpful content, spam, product reviews) and assess client portfolio impact within 7 days of any major update.Communicate impact and recovery plans to clients and management proactively - never wait for clients to notice ranking drops.Test new SEO tactics on smaller clients before rolling out across the portfolio.Maintain a personal learning rhythm - read Search Engine Journal, Search Engine Land, Google's blog, and follow practitioners like Aleyda Solis, Lily Ray, Glenn Gabe, Marie Haynes.
Required Skills & ExperienceMust-Have3+ years of SEO experience - across technical, on-page, and off-page SEO, ideally in an agency or in-house brand environment.Demonstrated client results - case studies showing keyword growth, organic traffic increases, and (ideally) conversion impact. Be ready to walk us through 2-3 case studies in the interview.Proficiency in modern SEO tools - Ahrefs OR Semrush, Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog OR Sitebulb, PageSpeed Insights, Google Tag Manager.Strong technical SEO command - Core Web Vitals, schema markup, robots.txt, canonicalisation, hreflang, JavaScript SEO basics, log file analysis.AI Search literacy - actively researched and implemented strategies for Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), and visibility in ChatGPT / Perplexity / Google AI Overviews.Reporting discipline - comfortable building and delivering weekly + monthly reports without being chased.Client-facing communication - can present results to founders, marketing heads, and CMOs with confidence in English; pleasant, professional, opinionated when needed.Strong PlusExperience with at least 2 of our verticals: real estate, healthcare, education, B2B, or e-commerce.Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript fundamentals - enough to read code, debug rendering issues, and brief developers.WordPress, Webflow, or Shopify SEO familiarity.Experience setting up GA4 events, GTM containers, and conversion tracking.Familiarity with content briefing using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) - especially for first-draft content that's then humanised and verified.Hindi / Telugu - useful for client conversations across South India.Disqualifiers - Don't Apply IfYou think SEO is mostly about keyword density, exact-match anchors, or directory submissions. You haven't read a Google algorithm update post in the last 6 months. You consider AI search "a hype cycle" and have made no effort to understand it.You inflate backlink reports with low-DA spam to hit numbers. You're uncomfortable with weekly internal reporting or client review calls. You expect to be told what to do every day - this role demands ownership.
