SAGE Dining Services® is seeking a Senior Director of Software Development and Product Management to lead the evolution of our technology and product capabilities. This is a key leadership role responsible for shaping and executing our technology strategy to deliver meaningful business value.
Reporting to the Vice President of Technology, this role sets the product vision and roadmap while leading teams to design, build, and deliver intuitive, well-architected, and highly available software solutions. We're looking for someone who can blend strategic insight with engaging hands-on leadership to drive technology initiatives that align with our goals while genuinely addressing our stakeholders' needs.
The ideal candidate will be based in the Baltimore area and work primarily from our Home Offices in Lutherville, MD. We may also consider applicants who live within a reasonable commuting distance.

What you'll do:
- Fostering a culture of continual improvement through feedback loops between development, testing, and operations.
- Monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs), market data, and guest feedback to inform product decisions and identify areas for improvement.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of Product Managers, Software Engineers, and engineering leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and technical excellence responsive to the business needs of our internal and external users.
- Facilitating consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new and existing technology implementations and maintenance.
- Leading and evolving the Product Management Team continually,including setting, refining, and maintaining standards; guiding the ongoing development and communication of the long-term product vision and strategy; and ensuring sustained alignment with company goals, client needs, and market trends.
- Managing strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including vendors, partner organizations, and other business units.
- Growing the team strategically as expansion warrants, and recruiting, hiring, developing, and counseling staff.
- Helping develop and improve the Technology Department's management, policies, functions, processes, procedures, and responsibilities through leading by example, consultancy, training,and intervention.
- Providing strategic direction and guidance to the Software Development Team, ensuring best practices around application design, software development, and integration are followed throughout the software development life cycle.
- Owning and continually improving engineering delivery performance by establishing and maintaining DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) metrics; driving ongoing improvements to the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline; and promoting practices that reduce deployment risk and increase reliability, including smaller code changes, improved observability, self-testing code, feature flags, and automated rollbacks.
- Overseeing the entire product lifecycle from conception and market research to launch, adoption, and end-of-life, ensuring the final product meets quality and business needs.
- Leading the innovation of the guest and Team Member experience, utilizing the most appropriate technology platforms and driving the strategy to position our technology platforms to scale for expansion.
- Ensuring IT systems and operations adhere to applicable laws and regulations, including payment card industry (PCI) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
- Assessing and communicating risks associated with IT systems and making recommendations to mitigate risk appropriately.
What you'll need:
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience and demonstrated growth in information technology (IT) roles, including a minimum of seven years of current leadership experience managing and administering a major IT software product development function; experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry preferred.
- Undergraduate degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Experience in both large, well-run organizations and smaller, high-growth entrepreneurial companies preferred.
- Demonstrated, hands-on leadership in developing and implementing contemporary enterprise technology architectures, utilizing agile methods, best practices, and current innovations across technology solutions and platforms.
- Experience working with business partners to develop multiyear product road maps and overseeing software development in support of them.
- Proven ability to evaluate, design, implement, and lead high-impact IT processes that drive performance improvements while maximizing the return on technology investments.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems, e-commerce, and digital marketing platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, including experience leveraging data to inform decision-making and independently solving software engineering problems.
- Deep expertise in cloud-based solutions, with the ability to set technical direction, guide architecture decisions, and advise teams.
- Highly effective at building trust, leading teams, and partnering with stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
