Senior Electrical Designer
Vesta Automation Inc.
Job Description
Vesta Automation is a Winnipeg‑based industrial automation and CSA‑certified control panel manufacturing company. For more than 13 years, we’ve engineered, programmed, and built control systems for Manitoba’s manufacturers, miners, food and beverage processors, water utilities, and OEM machine builders.
We’re a small, highly technical, and engineering‑led group of highly motivated individuals that are quietly raising the bar for what an industrial integrator looks like in Manitoba.
The Role
Own electrical design end‑to‑end for our CSA‑certified control panels, schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, and CSA documentation from kickoff through ready‑to‑ship.
You’ll be 100% based at our Border Street facility, working directly with our panel builders and our system integrator. Your work runs from drawing release through to ready‑to‑ship CSA‑certified panels.
What You’ll Own
- Electrical Design
- Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials in the CAD platform you know best (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or your equivalent)
- Cross‑check our designs against customer drawings, catch errors before they become build problems
- Drive drawings through internal review to approval and release
- Maintain CSA documentation; over time, take ownership of CSA Special Inspection sign‑off
- Feed lessons learned back into our design standards
- Build Support
- Be the go‑to design contact for our panel builders when something doesn’t match the drawings
- Walk the floor when builds need design judgment, not just drawings
- Cross‑Functional Engineering Support
- Provide deep electrical‑engineering expertise to our system integrator on customer projects
- Be the team’s authority on CSA panel standards
What You Bring
- Credentials
- Acceptable: CET (Certified Engineering Technician) with strong industrial experience or equivalent.
- Experience
- 3–5+ years in industrial electrical design, panel shop work, or automation projects
- Demonstrated CSA panel exposure (CSA C22.2 No. 14 or equivalent)
- Track record of running multiple active projects in parallel
- Technical
- Proficient in an electrical CAD platform of your choice
- Strong fundamentals: 3‑phase power, motor controls, drives, panel layout, short‑circuit analysis
- Comfortable reading customer drawings and identifying gaps before parts are ordered
- Operational
- Comfortable juggling 5–10 active design files at any time
- Strong written communication; able to brief panel builders and customers clearly
- Calm under deadline pressure; sees a build through to ready‑to‑ship
- Mindset
- Engineering pride. You take ownership of every drawing that leaves your desk.
- Ownership instinct. You see what needs doing and you do it.
- Coachable and direct small teams need both.
