Role Overview
The Enterprise Architect provides strategic and hands‑on guidance for designing and implementing enterprise‑wide technology solutions. This role works across multiple IT domains to assess new initiatives, define architectural direction, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards, business objectives, and operational requirements. The position collaborates with cross‑functional teams and leadership to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable IT solutions.
Enterprise Architecture & Strategy
- Participate as a member of the Enterprise Architecture team to define technical direction and standards
- Establish and promote enterprise IT architecture standards, best practices, and governance
- Serve as a solutions architect for enterprise applications and infrastructure initiatives
- Provide architectural guidance across multiple technology domains
Solution Design & Review
- Create high‑level and detailed design specifications for large enhancements and projects
- Conduct design reviews for smaller enhancements and complex fixes
- Evaluate and recommend technology solutions aligned with business and technical requirements
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable
Project Intake & Estimation
- Triage incoming requests and provide high‑level estimates of effort
- Identify impacted systems, applications, and technology domains for new initiatives
- Provide guidance on cross‑functional work including major enhancements and system fixes
Infrastructure & Platform Architecture
- Architect solutions across cloud, server, and database infrastructure environments
- Support implementation of cloud‑native services and modern architectures
- Provide guidance on system integration, service‑oriented architecture, and API design
- Support identity management and single sign‑on implementations
Collaboration & Delivery Support
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to align solutions with enterprise goals
- Support execution of approved projects as requested by IT leadership
- Participate in project planning, design discussions, and technical decision‑making
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 7 or more years of IT experience across multiple technology areas
- 2 or more years of enterprise architecture experience in at least one specialty area
- 5 or more years of experience in software development
- 5 or more years of experience with relational databases
- 5 or more years of experience in system administration and infrastructure support
- Advanced experience in cloud architecture and implementation
- Experience designing IT solutions and evaluating technologies to meet business needs
- Experience working with service‑oriented architecture and web services
- Experience with identity management and single sign‑on (SSO)
- Experience with ANSI SQL using Oracle or SQL Server
- Experience with Agile or Waterfall software development methodologies
- Experience with Azure DevOps or Team Foundation Server
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, systems integration, and application design
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting unemployment insurance or workforce systems
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
- Experience with cloud‑native architectures and modern application design patterns
- Experience supporting large‑scale public sector or enterprise IT environments
