The Opportunity
Icon Group is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Payroll Officer to join our growing team based in Head Office. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, enjoys taking ownership and can confidently manage end to end payroll with minimal supervision. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across the business while supporting both employees and the wider HR team with payroll related queries and compliance.
This role is ideal for someone with a construction background who understands Awards, Enterprise Agreements and the complexities of high volume payroll environments. With an immediate start available, this role offers genuine ownership, autonomy and the opportunity to contribute to ongoing process improvements across the payroll function.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end to end payroll processing across weekly and fortnightly pay cycles
- Process payroll for weekly paid Construction Workers and fortnightly employees
- Handle all payroll related activities including new starters, terminations, salary adjustments, allowances, overtime, deductions and leave processing
- Ensure compliance with relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements, superannuation and payroll legislation
- Support HR and employees with payroll related queries and interpretation
- Prepare payroll reconciliations, superannuation payments and statutory reporting requirements
- Assist with payroll system maintenance, reporting and process improvements
- Work collaboratively with Finance, HR and operational stakeholders across the business
About You
- Previous experience in a Senior Payroll Officer or similar payroll focused role
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation and modern Awards
- Experience within the construction industry highly regarded
- Ability to manage high volume payroll processing accurately under pressure
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
- Experience with payroll systems such as MicroPay or similar highly regarded
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to support stakeholders across all levels of the business
