Senior Software Engineering Manager, Orchestration

We are looking for a senior software engineering manager to lead and grow our Orchestration team, which builds and maintains our hybrid classical‑quantum computing environment for customers. The role will provide capabilities such as quantum emulation, pluggable compilers, efficient performance, and a future fault‑tolerant quantum computing layer at scale. You will work closely with our API teams and full‑stack hybrid computation effort.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to our codebase as a player‑coach while leading the team.
- Participate in developer forums and events to stay current in the field.
- Provide technical expertise, lead code reviews, and uphold best practices.
- Drive functional and technical delivery of key programs and initiatives.
- Partner with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and cross‑functional teams to define, scope, and execute large programs.
- Develop program management techniques, frameworks, and KPIs to measure success.
- Produce high‑quality written proposals, communications, and documentation.
- Build consensus and influence peers while handling ambiguity.
During the first three months you will hire key staff to scale the function.
You’d be a good fit with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 13+ years of professional experience (or comparable education/experience).
- 6+ years of hands‑on technical leadership and people management.
- 3+ years with Kubernetes and containerization; solid understanding of orchestration, microservices, and cloud‑native principles.
- Experience in low‑latency environments (streaming, trading, HPC).
- Experience with hyperscalar cloud platforms and their Kubernetes services.
- Knowledge of team‑management best practices and proven ability to build high‑performance distributed teams.
- Strong project management, analytical skills, and ability to set metrics for ROI.
- Expertise in modern software development practices (CI/CD, observability).
- Client focus and ability to maintain internal and external partner relationships.
You’d be a great fit with:
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Quantum Information Science, or related.
- 10+ years of technical leadership and people management.
- 3+ years managing distributed teams.
- Strong expertise in virtual machines, Linux/UNIX systems, kernels, and networking.
- Contributions to large open source projects.
- Experience delivering and scaling a computation‑as‑a‑service platform.
- Familiarity with Google Kubernetes Engine.
Location: Hybrid role based in Bothell, Washington.
Travel: Up to 10%.

Salary: $187,358 – $245,300 base. Total compensation includes base, bonus, and equity.
