Senior Substation Site Civil Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Senior Substation Site Civil Engineer to join our site/civil department and work on a variety of electric utility projects. The role involves site/civil design engineering for both large and small scale utility projects. Candidates with commercial/industrial site development experience will also be considered.

The candidate will perform senior‑level design reviews, develop junior staff members, contribute to bids and proposal development, act as a responsible engineer on client projects, and ensure quality control of design packages. The position will also include site visits, occasional travel, and client meetings, and will be a senior member of a design team comprised of engineers, designers and drafting technicians.

Location: Candidate MUST reside in the U.S.A. to be considered for this 100% REMOTE role.

Key Tasks

• Land development permitting, including NPDES, stormwater management, and knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations
• Research additional site data through various sources
• Site layout, grading, and drainage design
• Stormwater modeling and design
• Erosion and sediment control design
• Access road design
• Utility coordination and design
• Retaining wall layout and design
• Documentation of all supporting calculations
• Quantity take‑offs
• Construction drawings
• Construction specifications
• Construction observation and field engineering
• Coordination and collaboration with other design disciplines

Required Experience & Education

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
• Engineer with 4+ years of directly applicable civil‑site design experience
• EI/EIT certification preferred
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation OpenSite Designer software
• Experience with Hydraflow, ICPR, or other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling & design programs
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other general software tools
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills
• Team player with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff
• Able to execute projects and handle clients successfully with limited supervision
• Willing to travel, up to 25%
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
