Leidos is seeking a Senior Substation Site Civil Engineer to join our site/civil department and work on a variety of electric utility projects. The role involves site/civil design engineering for both large and small scale utility projects. Candidates with commercial/industrial site development experience will also be considered.
The candidate will perform senior‑level design reviews, develop junior staff members, contribute to bids and proposal development, act as a responsible engineer on client projects, and ensure quality control of design packages. The position will also include site visits, occasional travel, and client meetings, and will be a senior member of a design team comprised of engineers, designers and drafting technicians.
Location: Candidate MUST reside in the U.S.A. to be considered for this 100% REMOTE role.
Key Tasks
- Land development permitting, including NPDES, stormwater management, and knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations
- Research additional site data through various sources
- Site layout, grading, and drainage design
- Stormwater modeling and design
- Erosion and sediment control design
- Access road design
- Utility coordination and design
- Retaining wall layout and design
- Documentation of all supporting calculations
- Quantity take‑offs
- Construction drawings
- Construction specifications
- Construction observation and field engineering
- Coordination and collaboration with other design disciplines
Required Experience & Education
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
- Engineer with 4+ years of directly applicable civil‑site design experience
- EI/EIT certification preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation OpenSite Designer software
- Experience with Hydraflow, ICPR, or other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling & design programs
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other general software tools
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Team player with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff
- Able to execute projects and handle clients successfully with limited supervision
- Willing to travel, up to 25%
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
