We are looking for a Senior Technical Designer who will be responsible for managing the development of styles across a collection with emphasis on design intent, quality, and construction from initial hand off through style release to manufacturers. This role is accountable for providing the business with product Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Tech Packs. Additional responsibilities include ongoing maintenance and updates of existing styles, special projects/collaborations, and product validation.
Managing to the Product calendar is crucial for success of the Sr. Product Developer’s role. This role requires high level of communication with the Product team as well as Cross-Departmental collaboration coupled with strong project management and time management skill
Some of What You'll Do:
- Managing Development of styles across a collection on time and with accuracy.
- Create and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and Tech Packs to ensure accurately produced Finished Product/Goods.
- Attend and contribute to Department and Cross-Functional meetings, addressing any outstanding issues on behalf of the team.
- Collaborate with the department Sr Director to build a robust Tech pack and accurate Bill of Materials.
- Collaborate with Size and Fit team to ensure fit intent is met.
- Partner with Factories to ensure prototypes meet established quality and construction standards.
- Manage to Product Calendars: deliver completed tasks on time at each stage of the development process, take initiative when required as well as demonstrate flexibility as needed.
- Collaborate with Design and Size and Fit partners in fittings to ensure collection details, fit and standards are communicated clearly.
- Support in solving Production concerns and issues as needed.
- Mentor and train new PD team hires are required.
- Any and all duties as may be assigned by the Sr Director
Some of What You'll Need:
- 4-5 years of working experience within an Outwear Development Role or related position
- Dec in Fashion Design or equivalent
- Product Development & Technical Design experience in outerwear is preferred
- Knowledge of garment construction is required
- Understanding fabric types, structure and use is an asset
Some of Who You Are:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Creative, adaptive and broad minded
- Detail oriented, meticulous with strong organization skills
- Strong time management and multitasking skills
- Ability to work as a team and maintain a high level of professionalism
Given the international nature of our business and of this position, the candidate will be required to communicate effectively, on a regular basis, with various stakeholders (co-workers, colleagues, customers, suppliers, etc.) located in Canada outside Quebec or throughout the world. Proficiency in languages other than French (notably, English) will be an asset for the successful candidate.
