Site Manager – Fossil Site – Open Shop Labor
Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, responsible for the successful execution of all contract obligations at the assigned site. Ensures that all work is performed in a safe and productive manner and in accordance with the quality standards of both the customer and D&Z. Serves as the principal contact to the customer for day‑to‑day operational issues and business development opportunities.
Provides assistance with proposals, as required. Effectively manages relationships with key client stakeholders and maintains internal and external industry knowledge and best practices through continuous learning and development.
Principal Accountabilities
- Responsible for the overall safety of staff and open‑shop craft employees at the assigned site and for auditing safety performance. Accountable for implementing, evaluating, and recommending improvements to the site safety plan.
- Directs, delegates, and executes work through others at the site safely, within budget, and in accordance with terms of contract, while identifying and implementing customer processes to ensure project controls and planning objectives are met.
- Understands contract requirements and executes the contract to the financial benefit of the company.
- Oversees orientation and development of onsite staff and craft employees, including employee relations, human performance, productivity, performance management, and employment management.
- Builds broad‑based customer relationships and uses obtained information to improve products and services. Implements betterment principles into daily work and project completion.
- Resolves day‑to‑day work‑related issues with customers, employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Communicates effectively with customers, site staff, and craft employees, recommending process improvements to key customer leadership contacts within a matrix organization.
- Identifies successors, coaches, and provides development opportunities to employees.
- Negotiates skillfully and uses effective listening skills to identify concerns.
- Has strong knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Has a basic understanding of cost controls and scheduling processes.
Qualifications
Education: High school or trade school completion. Additional education in engineering, construction management, or a related field is a plus.
Experience: 5–10 years of supervisory experience in the fossil power industry, preferably with a mechanical background.

- Talking, with capacity to express thoughts orally (e.g., accurately and quickly convey spoken instruction to workers)
- Capacity to think, concentrate, and focus over long periods of time
- Ability to read and write complex documents in the English language
- Capacity to reason and make sound decisions
- Ability to wear a mask, respirator, harness, or other equipment
- Ability to regularly perform all job functions at the company's office or work site
- Ability to withstand environmental conditions (e.g., extreme heat or cold, grass, wind, sand, fumes, odors, gases, extreme noise, etc.)
- Ability to successfully complete elements required to obtain unescorted access to client facilities/plants (background screening, drug/alcohol screening, psychological screening, training, etc.)
Salary Range
In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $96,000–$210,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on the date of hire, schedule type, and other factors.
