Job Description
The College of Nursing is seeking a full-time Skills Lab Technician (Technician 3) for a term position from June 1, 2026, to May 3, 2027. This role supports nursing education by preparing, maintaining, and operating equipment used in skills, simulation, and clinical competency labs.
The successful candidate will organize and set up lab equipment, maintain and repair medical and nursing devices, support faculty and simulation staff, and help create realistic learning environments for students. Responsibilities also include inventory and supply management, equipment calibration, development of visual learning aids, training and supervision of student lab technicians, and ensuring labs and mannequins are properly cleaned and maintained.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Community College course in a related discipline is required.
- Licensed Practical Nurse or other nursing training preferred.
- Minimum one year of directly related experience required, preferably in a hospital/medical setting.
- Experience using and maintaining nursing care equipment required, including ability to troubleshoot malfunction and perform minor repairs.
- Experience operating audio-visual equipment required.
- Experience with UM Procurement (EPIC) ordering system preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and equipment used in nursing required.
- Microcomputer skills using Microsoft Office Suite of programs required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
