Job Description: Senior Snowflake Administrator

Role: Senior Snowflake Administrator / Platform Security Lead Location: Chennai Department: Data & Analytics / Cloud Operations

About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Senior Snowflake Administrator to take ownership of our enterprise Snowflake data platform. As our analytics environment scales with advanced AI integrations (Cortex AI) and massive data engineering pipelines, this role is critical to ensuring the security, governance, and optimal performance of the platform.

You will act as the primary gatekeeper for the platform, taking ownership of Identity and Access Management (IAM), network security configurations (Azure Private Link), and strict compliance with Internal Audit and Zero Trust security mandates. By centralizing platform administration, you will enable our core Data Engineering teams to focus exclusively on architectural delivery and business innovation.

Key Responsibilities1. Identity, Access, and RBAC GovernanceOwn and mature the Snowflake Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) framework, ensuring adherence to the principle of least privilege across all environments (DEV, QA, PRD).Manage the complete user identity lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and automated reconciliation between Active Directory (Entra ID) / HR systems and Snowflake.Maintain and enforce the Company Code (CoCode) Access Matrix and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) policies.Facilitate the formal bi-annual access recertification process for user-to-role and role-to-object mappings in coordination with Business Role Owners.2. Security, Compliance, and Audit ReadinessActively monitor the Snowflake Trust Center, triaging and resolving critical/medium security violations on a daily basis.Enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Single Sign-On (SSO) policies across all user accounts, and manage the transition of Service Accounts to RSA Key-Pair authentication.Own the "Break-Glass" emergency access Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), ensuring strict approval, logging, and post-activity review workflows are followed.Integrate Snowflake audit logs (user activity, query execution, login history) with the enterprise SIEM platform for continuous threat monitoring.3.

Infrastructure and Network SecurityManage cross-tenant cloud network configurations, specifically configuring and maintaining Azure Private Link endpoints, internal storage stages, and DNS mapping for secure Snowflake connectivity.Collaborate closely with Cloud IT Infrastructure and Network Operations teams to resolve complex routing, IP whitelisting, and connectivity incidents.Oversee the deployment and impact of Snowflake Behaviour Change Bundles across lower and production environments.4. Platform Operations & Cost ManagementManage and optimize Snowflake virtual warehouses, ensuring compute resources are properly sized for varying workloads (ETL vs. BI vs.

AI).Monitor daily credit consumption, implement resource monitors, and enforce cost-control limits.Serve as the L3 escalation point for platform-level incidents, segregating administrative troubleshooting from core data engineering tasks.

Qualifications & ExperienceExperience: 5+ years in Database/Data Warehouse Administration, with a minimum of 3+ years dedicated exclusively to Snowflake Administration in an enterprise environment.Security & Governance: Deep understanding of Snowflake security frameworks, including RBAC, Row/Column-level security, Dynamic Data Masking, and Network Policies.Cloud Infrastructure: Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, specifically Entra ID (Azure AD) SSO integrations, Azure Private Link, and Private DNS Zones.Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in SQL and Snowflake Scripting. Experience with Python or PowerShell for automating administrative tasks (e.g., generating RSA keys, automating RBAC grants) is highly preferred.Audit & Compliance: Proven track record of supporting IT/Internal Audits, implementing remediation plans, and writing technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Certifications: Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification is an added advantage. SnowPro Advanced: Administrator is highly preferred.
