Software Engineer–Developer (Development)

About the Role

The successful candidate will join the B-1 Avionics Flight Software team at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, OK, and will support the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software system and subsystem engineering models using Jira throughout the end‑to‑end lifecycle. Duties include reviewing, analyzing, and translating customer requirements and technical specifications for stakeholder use and collaborating with a diverse engineering team to deploy operational flight software for the B‑1.

Position Responsibilities

• Support software development on agile teams integrating solutions onto a platform.
• Apply analytical problem‑solving skills to resolve problems for the company and suppliers.
• Use engineering skills to deliver improved weapon system capabilities to customers.
• Apply engineering knowledge to continuously improve processes and tools.
• Apply knowledge of engineering principles to conduct analysis.
• Gather information to design, develop, analyze, and maintain software systems that meet industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security, and certification standards.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate system‑level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational, and performance requirements with clear traceability to design, code, and test artifacts.
• Assist in completing software system‑level analyses to identify risk, issues, and opportunities; support integration and deployment of mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards.
• Assist with monitoring and reviewing test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software systems.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Active Secret U.S. Security clearance.
• 5+ years of professional experience with infrastructure design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, developing with one or more of the following languages: C++, C, Ada, C#, Java, Python.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science with 5+ years of related experience (or equivalent combinations of education and experience).
• Experience handling documentation products for developers and stakeholders related to requirements and systems of systems.
• Experience with navigation modeling and flight simulation.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Experience with software design and development tools such as DOORS and logic diagrams.
• Experience with aircraft schematics, wiring diagrams, and job guide procedures.
• Technical writing experience.

Location & Work Arrangement

This position is 100% onsite at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City, OK.

Security Clearance

Requires an active Secret U.S. Security clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Travel & Shift

Approximately 10% travel. Position is for 1st shift.
