Job Description
Genesis10 is currently seeking a Software Engineer Lead for a Remote position with a Major Financial Institution. This is a contract opportunity until the end of the year with the potential for extension and conversion to a full‑time role.
In this role, you will join a team responsible for monitoring and event management tools, with a focus on mainframe automation. The team is currently migrating from OPS/MVS to IBM System Automation as part of a risk mitigation and cost reduction initiative. You will collaborate closely with the mainframe platform team to improve system resiliency through the full software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Create and lead the technical design and development of software solutions
- Consult with engineering staff to evaluate the interface between hardware and software, develop specifications, and resolve customer problems
- Advise about or perform maintenance of the software system
- Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures
- Direct software programming and development of documentation
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues
- Troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve them
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years of experience in a similar role
- Strong proficiency in z/OS (MVS) operations in a large‑scale shop with multiple Sysplex environments including IPL procedures
- Current working knowledge of subsystems such as JES2, SDSF, RACF, TSO, TCPIP, Control‑M, CICS, and DB2
- Expertise in NetView customization and REXX programming
- Strong knowledge and experience of the System Automation policy database customization, command list creation, and managing NetView automation tables to improve system resiliency
- Knowledge of SA‑plex and cross‑system automation
- Experience with monitoring and alerting on exceptions
- Strong debugging, problem determination, and analytical skills to resolve automation issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage one's time
Desired skills
- Event Management experience
- ITSM knowledge, ITIL certification a plus
- Experience with OPS/MVS
- Knowledge of Python scripting under Unix System Services
Pay range
Pay range: $63.54 - $71.54 per hour
