Requirements: The Senior Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery for a case management system supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
This role is responsible for ensuring that all project activities are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with CMS standards and federal regulations. The Senior Project Manager will serve as the primary point of accountability for project success, overseeing cross-functional teams, managing risks, and engaging stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead end-to-end delivery of the QMARS case management system Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria Establish and manage integrated project plans and schedules Ensure alignment with CMS priorities and contract requirements Serve as the primary liaison to CMS stakeholders and leadership Establish governance structures Facilitate executive briefings and decision-making sessions Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve escalations Develop and maintain Project Management Plan, Integrated Master Schedule and resource/staffing plans Oversee Agile or hybrid delivery execution Ensure coordination across business, technical, data, and QA teams Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, maintain a comprehensive risk register, Develop mitigation and contingency plans Escalate critical risks to CMS leadership as needed Oversee quality assurance processes and deliverable reviews Ensure audit readiness and compliance documentation Lead and manage cross-functional teams Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill alignment Mentor team members and promote a high-performance culture Oversee Agile delivery processes, including sprint planning and execution, backlog prioritization and release planning Ensure continuous improvement and delivery efficiency Provide regular status reports to CMS, including progress against schedule, risks and issues and key performance metrics Ensure transparency and accuracy in all reporting Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, or related field (Masters preferred) 10+ years of project/program management experience 5+ years managing large-scale federal IT programs (CMS preferred) Proven experience delivering complex system implementations Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies Must be legally authorized to work in the US Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services programs Experience with case management systems or healthcare IT platforms PMP certification Work Environment/Physical Demands The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
