Job Description
Job Title: Staff Accountant Location: Michigan City, Indiana (Fully Onsite) Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year (depending on experience) Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our team in Michigan City, Indiana. This role is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset who enjoys digging into financial data, identifying trends, and ensuring accuracy across accounting processes. The Staff Accountant will play an important role in supporting accounting operations, including fixed asset management, sales and use tax compliance, financial analysis, and general ledger activities across multiple states.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates effectively, and thrives in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain the fixed asset ledger , including tracking additions, disposals, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations Prepare and review sales and use tax filings while ensuring compliance across multiple states Perform general ledger reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end close processes Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement Assist with preparation of financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries Maintain strong attention to detail while handling multiple projects and deadlines Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve processes Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 3-7 years of accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment Experience with fixed assets and sales & use tax compliance required Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities Ability to work across multiple states and regulatory environments Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems Preferred Attributes Analytical thinker who enjoys working with financial data Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities Team-oriented professional with a collaborative mindset Strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement LI-ONSITE LI-SH1 INMAR2026 salesanduse fixedassets staffaccountant analyst Click here to apply online EB-5364855964
