Job Summary
The Tax Experienced Senior, Transfer Pricing is responsible for utilizing research skills and working with tax software applications to prepare simple tax returns. In this role, the Tax Experienced Senior, Transfer Pricing will gather client information for appropriate tax filings, prepare tax accrual work papers, participate in the tax planning process, and recognize and communicate potential risks.
Job Duties
- Transfer Pricing Studies:
- Conduct transfer pricing studies involving the planning, documentation, audit defense, and compliance stages.
- Scope, design, and conduct financial analysis related to intercompany transactions, including evaluation of industry and client financial data to benchmark or document appropriate intercompany pricing policies.
- Complete supplemental financial analysis including market penetration scenarios, valuation of intangible property, and analysis of financial transactions (loan, guarantees, insurance).
- Plan, schedule, and execute transfer pricing analyses under direction of STS Senior Director or STS Manager.
- Manage deadlines and data due dates for assigned projects.
- Utilize standard databases to gather company information (Compustat, Amadeus, ktMINE, Edgar, 10‑K Wizard, Bloomberg, Lexis‑Nexis, etc.).
- Prepare project reports documenting compliance of client’s intercompany prices with tax regulations and present consulting advice summarizing approach, research, quantitative analysis, and results.
- Participate in scoping calls related to proposals and prepare draft proposals and engagement letters at direction of STS Senior Director or STS Manager.
- Prepare presentations for current clients conveying results of analyses and recommendations or reviewing service capabilities for potential clients.
- Participate in client interviews to gather information on factors affecting intercompany transactions, covering corporate structure, division of functional responsibilities, distribution of risks, value drivers, industry overview, historical context, and industry information.
- Manage and review benchmarking work completed by STS Transfer Pricing Associates.
- Tax Controversy:
- Apply understanding of audit, competent authority, and APA process including statutory deadlines and requirements.
- Prepare IDR responses on behalf of clients and work with clients to prepare appropriate arguments at audit as necessary.
- Tax Provision and FIN 48:
- Apply transfer pricing in the context of tax provisions and ASC 740‑10.
- Draft memos for transfer pricing ASC 740‑10 analysis.
- Collaboration with Core Tax and STS Groups:
- Develop in‑depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities in at least one area of taxation.
- Maintain visibility in local offices and region (networking with core tax and assurance managers and above).
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise day‑to‑day workload of STS Transfer Pricing Associates and Interns on assigned engagements and review work product.
- Ensure associates and interns are trained on all relevant tax software.
- Provide clarification and guidance on complex concepts and tasks to colleagues and clients, as appropriate.
- Deliver periodic performance feedback and complete performance evaluations for associates and interns.
- Act as mentor to associates and interns, as appropriate.
- Monitor budgets and billings to manage project profitability.
- Additional Duties as Required.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or other relevant field, required.
- Advanced degree, preferred.
Experience
- More than three (3) years of work experience, required.
- Experience working within a transfer pricing practice, required.
- Prior supervisory experience, required.
- Experience reviewing tax provisions from a transfer pricing perspective, preferred.
Software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Prior exposure to S&P Compustat, Moody’s RiskCalc, 10‑K Wizard, ktMINE, and other financial database products, preferred.

- Intermediate knowledge of general calculations and causal relationships for taxable conditions and potential tax issues.
- Experience working across different industries.
Compensation
Individual salaries are determined after consideration of qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range: $74,550 – $147,000
Maryland Range: $74,550 – $147,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $74,550 – $147,000
Washington DC Range: $74,550 – $147,000
