Technical Painting Manager

About the RoleAs the Technical Painting Manager, you will be responsible for leading all painting operations within the EV manufacturing process, ensuring top-tier surface quality, durability, and efficiency. You will oversee end-to-end paint shop activities—from pretreatment and electro-deposition (ED) to topcoat application—while driving continuous improvement in a world-class automotive environment. ? Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage daily operations in the Paint Shop, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and process efficiency are achieved.Oversee all painting processes, including pretreatment, ED coating, sealing, primer, basecoat, and clearcoat application.Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards, including chemical handling and emissions control.Optimize paint processes, parameters, and equipment to improve quality, reduce defects, and minimize material waste.Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve paint defects and improve overall vehicle finish quality.Manage manpower planning, training, and performance of paint shop teams.Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement (KAIZEN) initiatives within the Paint Shop.Monitor and control key KPIs such as First Pass Yield (FPY), defect rate, and paint consumption efficiency.

RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Minimum 8–12 years of experience in automotive painting/paint shop operations.Strong expertise in automotive paint systems, application technologies, and defect analysis.Experience with automated paint systems, robotics, and process optimization is highly preferred.Solid understanding of EHS regulations related to painting operations (VOC, hazardous materials, etc.).Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and drive performance in a fast-paced environment.Strong problem-solving skills and continuous improvement mindset.Willing to work onsite at VinFast Factory – Subang.
