Position: Technical Project Manager
Location: Hamden, CT
Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters is located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally.
We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Engineering team at Amphenol Spectra-Strip in Hamden, CT.
Responsibilities:
This position coordinates with internal and external customers, plans projects, implements budget, and completes projects from design to validation to production ramp. The successful candidate will be able to manage and provide real-time technical leadership in a complex, dynamic environment.
- Identifies resource requirements and communicates to management with appropriate justification
- Strong decision-making skills, considering all relevant factors and potential consequences
- Takes ownership of assigned tasks and projects, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues across time zones in a rapidly changing environment
- Identifies and overcomes obstacles, such as key constraints and critical path items and proactively plans creative and effective mitigation
- Develop standard workflows and expectations for cross functional activities to ensure crisp execution
Preferred skills:
- Project Management Institute PMP® or CAPM® Certification
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems
- Experience working within a technical environment
- Understanding of design, procurement, and/or manufacturing processes
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Sense of ownership and commitment to meeting customer needs
- Excellent planning and organization skills with a sense of urgency
- Ability to work within a team and collaborate
- Ability to understand, manage, and analyze financial information related to the projects
- Ability to travel occasionally domestically and/or internationally for projects if needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from a four-year university with 4+ years related experience and/or training within the connector industry, preferred
- 5+ years of experience in leading and implementing large scale, capital, highly visible projects
- Project engineering management mindset / experience a plus
- High-energy, self-motivated, and team oriented
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical product drawings and procedures
- Ability to effectively write detailed technical reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to various internal and external stakeholders
- Should have knowledge and skills using Project Management and Office productivity software
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and proactively identify, review, discuss, and resolve problems
- Working understanding of engineering tools such as DFM, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
