Job Description
The Technical Project Manager leads web and app development projects from planning to delivery. This role manages cross-functional teams, ensures quality, stays within budget, and meets deadlines. Acting as the link between stakeholders and technical teams, the manager translates requirements, facilitates agile processes, and drives continuous improvement.
Key duties include overseeing the project lifecycle, communication, risk management, and upholding best practices for successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Project Planning and Management: Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resources, and budget estimates.
Track project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion. Team Leadership and Coordination: Lead cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and QA specialists, to ensure clear communication and efficient workflow. Facilitate regular stand-up meetings, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Act as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and the development team. Technical Oversight and Problem-Solving: Provide technical guidance and support to development teams to overcome challenges. Collaborate with developers to ensure the use of best practices in coding, security, and performance.
Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate quick resolutions. Quality Assurance and Risk Management: Establish and enforce quality assurance processes to meet the highest development standards. Identify potential project risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure that applications and websites are tested thoroughly before launch to minimize bugs and performance issues. Stakeholder Communication and Reporting: Keep stakeholders informed with regular status updates and detailed progress reports. Gather feedback and adjust project plans based on stakeholder input.
Communicate project successes and challenges effectively. Budget and Resource Management: Manage project budgets, ensuring resources are used efficiently and project costs stay within budget. Allocate resources effectively based on project requirements and priorities.
Negotiate contracts with vendors or external partners if necessary. Documentation and Compliance: Ensure that technical documentation is accurate and up to date throughout the project lifecycle. Comply with relevant regulatory standards and industry best practices for web and app development.
Oversee documentation related to project specifications, user requirements, and development changes. Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest web and app development technologies, tools, and trends. Propose improvements in processes and technology stack to optimize development workflows.
Encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team. Deployment and Post-Launch Support: Oversee the deployment process, ensuring a smooth transition from development to live production. Monitor the performance of applications post-launch and manage bug fixes and updates as needed.
Coordinate user training or client handover sessions where applicable. Qualifications Education : Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, or related field; relevant certifications (PMP, CSM) are a plus. Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of web/app development frameworks, backend technologies, and cloud services (AWS, Azure).
Project Management : Proven experience with full-cycle project management and agile methodologies; familiarity with tools like JIRA or Trello. Leadership : Effective team management, motivation, and delegation skills. Communication : Excellent verbal and written skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and risk mitigation abilities. Time/Budget Management : Ability to meet deadlines and manage budgets efficiently. Quality Assurance : Attention to detail with experience in quality control.
Adaptability : Quick learner of new technologies and best practices. Stakeholder Management : Skilled in client interaction and feedback incorporation. Preferred Quality-Oriented : Strong background in quality assurance and maintaining high standards.
Budget/Resource Management : Proven experience managing project budgets efficiently. Client Relationship Skills : Excellent stakeholder engagement and client-facing capabilities. Problem Solving and Adaptability : Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting, risk management, and adapting to new tech.
