Description
Under the direction of a Principal Engineer, the incumbent will act as the lead project engineer to apply water resources engineering principles for the development and evaluation of Forecast Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO) at project sites and the development of decision support tools to assist in the implementation of FIRO.
Applications of extensive experience and knowledge of numerical modeling and analysis of reservoirs and managed river systems, thorough knowledge of computer coding, and strong communication skills.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge and experience with engineering principles and methods to independently perform the full range of engineering professional design work.
- Thorough knowledge necessary to apply principles, practices and procedures in the completion of assignments.
- Demonstrated organizational and decision‑making abilities to prioritize competing work assignments in order to meet deadlines and adhere to quality standards.
- Strong analytical and judgment skills to independently conduct analyses and develop appropriate recommendations.
- Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative manner; identify challenges and barriers and recommend resolutions.
- Ability to lead and influence others.
- Thorough knowledge and experience with water resources engineering principles and methods to independently perform a full range of professional water resources engineering studies and evaluations.
- Thorough knowledge of the development and evaluation of reservoir operations through numerical modeling and analysis.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering computer software and numerical models especially models developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers such as HEC-ResSim, HEC-RAS, HEC-WAT, and HEC-DSSVue.
- Experienced with computer coding in Python and other languages for the analysis of data and the development of hydrologic simulation models.
- Practical knowledge of the field of hydrometeorology with an emphasis on the Western U.S.
Special Conditions
