A Co‑op Student is sought to support the digitization and improvement of equipment records, inspections, and maintenance workflows across a broad range of operational and technical equipment at the Oshawa Elevation Centre (OEC). The position is hybrid, requiring onsite presence at OEC five times per week or as specified by business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review existing control sheets, logs, and tracking records to determine which information should be managed in Maximo, GEETS, or other test and documentation systems.
- Create and update asset, location, meter, preventive maintenance, and inspection configurations in Maximo for prioritized operational, facility, and technical equipment.
- Support the setup, confirmation, or refinement of GEETS records for applicable lab and measurement equipment, including calibration and equipment assignment information where appropriate.
- Help digitize recurring equipment checks, inspections, and maintenance workflows for assets such as environmental chambers, load frames, garage equipment, EV chargers, HVAC and ventilation equipment, and machine shop equipment.
- Coordinate with equipment owners, administrators, stakeholders, and maintenance trades to gather information, confirm requirements, and support the rollout of improved digital processes.
- Develop mapping documentation that clearly defines the purpose of each existing form, its suitability for digitization, and its future system of record.
- Pilot and document simple Maximo and GEETS workflows, including entering inspections, completing preventive maintenance tasks, and recording equipment status or usage where applicable.
- Create clear work instructions and handover material to support adoption of new digital workflows by users and support teams, while reinforcing Workplace Safety System expectations around standard work and process discipline.
- Capture lessons learned and provide recommendations on which additional paper forms should be digitized and which should remain as supporting technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in an engineering, information systems, or related field.
- Eligible to work full‑time hours (40 hours per week) in Canada for an 8‑month co‑op term.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when working with technical records, equipment data, and process documentation.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document processes clearly and work effectively with cross‑functional team members.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with structured data, databases, or enterprise systems such as Maximo, SAP, GEETS, or similar tools is preferred.
- Experience creating work instructions, process maps, or other standard documentation is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, learn new systems quickly, and manage multiple tasks with a high level of ownership.
