Position: Accountant
The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting and financial activities of the organization, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, budget monitoring, and compliance with organizational and statutory requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Complianceo Manage day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records in the accounting system.
o Process payments in accordance with organizational policies, donor regulations, and statutory requirements.
o Maintain cash book, bank book, general ledger, vouchers, and supporting documentation.
o Prepare monthly financial statements, utilization reports, fund reports, and management information system (MIS) reports.
o Assist in annual budgeting, budget revisions, forecasting, and budget monitoring.
o Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, trial balance reconciliations, and ledger reconciliations.
o Prepare financial statements, Balance Sheet, Income & Expenditure Statement, and schedules for annual accounts.
o Ensure compliance with applicable statutory laws including Income Tax, GST, TDS, FCRA, Companies Act, and CSR-related financial requirements, where applicable.
o Process and ensure timely statutory deductions and filings related to Provident Fund (PF), Employees' State Insurance (ESIC), Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, TDS, Form 24Q, Form 26Q, Form 16, Form 16A, Form 10BD/10BE, and other statutory returns as applicable.
o Handle monthly payroll accounting, salary processing, payroll reconciliations, leave encashment, gratuity, and final settlement calculations.
o Generate and process UAN registration, PF transfers, ESIC registrations, and other employee statutory compliance requirements.
o Coordinate statutory registrations, renewals, and maintenance of compliance records.
o Support internal, statutory, donor, and government audits by preparing schedules and ensuring timely submission of required documentation.
Project Financial Supporto Maintain project-wise books of accounts and expenditure tracking.
o Monitor project budgets, burn rates, fund utilization, and budget variances.
o Verify bills, invoices, travel claims, advances, and supporting documents before payment processing.
o Prepare donor financial reports and assist in financial reporting as per donor requirements.
o Monitor financial transactions and documentation of implementing partners and field offices.
o Coordinate with program teams to ensure proper budget utilization, coding, and financial documentation.
o Conduct field visits, when required, for financial verification, compliance reviews, asset verification, and partner financial monitoring.
Accounting Systems & Internal Controlso Maintain accounting records in Cloud Tally, ERP, or other accounting software.
o Ensure proper filing and safeguarding of financial records, vouchers, contracts, and statutory documents.
o Maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and inventory records.
o Strengthen internal financial controls and recommend process improvements.
o Ensure adherence to procurement and financial authorization policies.
Other Responsibilitieso Support finance-related reporting to management, Board, donors, and regulatory authorities.
o Coordinate with banks, auditors, tax consultants, and government departments on financial matters.
o Perform any other finance, compliance, or administrative duties assigned by the Finance Manager or Management from time to time.
Skills, Education & Qualificationso Educationo B.Com / M.Com (mandatory)
o Technical Skillso Strong knowledge of TDS, GST, Income Tax, FCRA, and statutory compliances.
o Proficiency in QuickBooks, Tally ERP 9, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.
o Experience in preparing financial statements, reconciliations, budgets, and donor reports.
o Ability to handle filings under Income Tax (including 10BD), PF, and Professional Tax.
Experience & Competencieso Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in Accounts & Finance.
o Candidates with experience in NGO sector will be preferred.
o Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
o Ability to work independently with integrity and attention to detail.
o Comfort with occasional field travel for project-related financial monitoring.
