Job Description

The Admissions Counselor III serves as a senior-level counselor responsible for identifying, recruiting, and increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students. The role functions under general supervision to manage recruitment and training programs within the department.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise prospective students about admissions requirements, policies, statuses, and office programs.
• Assist in developing communication plans and strategies to reach prospective students.
• Work directly with applicants and their parents to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints, appeals, and denial options.
• Organize, implement, and report on existing recruitment programs.
• Develop new, high‑impact recruitment programs in collaboration with other departments.
• Analyze data collected from students before the start of recruitment season and apply necessary changes to improve recruitment.
• Assist in training admissions counseling personnel, coordinate staff development, training, and scheduling; may lead training sessions.
• Provide specialized admissions sessions and presentations to on‑campus and off‑campus groups.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum three years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Knowledge of admissions functions in higher education.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

Special Requirements

• Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered; four years of related experience is required for equivalency, and a total of seven years of experience is required to meet the equivalency criteria.
