The Aerospace Machinist Lead will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.Open to internal candidates only. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be under general supervision, as a working group leader over lower grade craftsmen, directs and performs a wide variety of technical, mechanical, electrical, and manual work in the testing, operating, and/or assembly and shop areas of an Engineering Test Facility.
Job Duties:Preparing Test Facility equipment for operationsPrepare test articles for testingInstall test articles and checks installationTroubleshoots equipment, test articles, and installations in case of malfunctionsOperates plant and test equipment during testsAssists in tests and operates test articles such as controls for engines and rockets; removes test articles after testsInstalls and maintains facility systems; accomplishes maintenance and servicing work required to place and keep test facility equipment in operationUses a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, measuring and testing equipmentInstructs less experienced lower-level grade craftsmenPerform other duties as requiredIt is a condition of employment to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policyMust be able/available to work different work shifts and schedules ResponsibilitiesBasic Qualifications:Six years of machinist experience in the working section of an Aeronautical Test Facility. Progressive experience as an Aerospace Machinist, Machinist, Millwright, Aircraft Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic may be substituted for the required experience.Ability to skillfully operate and work with the wide variety of hand and machine tools associated with tradeMust be able to direct the work of lower grade craftsmanMust be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area networkCurrent U. S.
