AI Engineer (Agentic Systems)

MCS Group is looking for an experienced AI Engineer (contract) to join an enterprise AI initiative focused on delivering intelligent automation solutions within a highly regulated environment. This AI Engineer (Contract) will play a key part in the development of a production-grade AI agent. Beyond the initial delivery, you will help establish patterns and capabilities that can be extended across a wider portfolio of AI-driven use cases.The Role Designing and building autonomous AI agents capable of executing complex multi-step workflowsDeveloping and orchestrating agent-based systems using modern LLM frameworksBuilding Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and enterprise knowledge retrieval capabilitiesIntegrating AI services with existing enterprise platforms, APIs and operational toolingWorking within established governance, security and compliance frameworksProducing technical documentation and implementation artefacts to support delivery and audit requirementsCollaborating with technical and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable, secure and reusableThe Person Extensive commercial Python development experience is essentialHands-on experience with LangChain and agent orchestration frameworksExperience building and integrating solutions using Model Context Protocol (MCP)Practical experience integrating and evaluating Large Language Models (LLMs)Experience developing RAG architectures, vector search solutions and knowledge-driven applicationsStrong understanding of API integration and distributed application designExperience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure-based AI services and enterprise LLM deploymentsExperience working with OpenAI technologies within production environmentsUmbrella Rate: £500 - £520 per day IR35: Inside Duration: 6 - 12 months
