A highly regarded law firm is seeking a Counsel, AI Risk & Compliance to serve at the intersection of legal innovation, technology, risk management, cybersecurity, data governance, and professional responsibility. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about emerging technologies and wants to play a key role in shaping how a major law firm evaluates, deploys, and governs AI tools across its business.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary legal advisor on the evaluation, implementation, and governance of AI tools, applications, and vendors.
- Partner with firm leadership, IT, Information Security, Procurement, Marketing, Knowledge Management, and other business stakeholders on AI initiatives from inception through deployment.
- Advise on legal issues involving privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, confidentiality, attorney-client privilege, and professional responsibility.
- Support AI vendor diligence, contracting, and risk management processes, including data rights, model training, retention, and cross-border data considerations.
- Develop governance frameworks, policies, training programs, and best practices that promote responsible AI adoption.
- Monitor evolving AI regulations and industry developments, translating complex legal requirements into practical business guidance.
- Help the firm balance innovation and efficiency with legal, regulatory, operational, and reputational risk management.
Ideal Background
- J.D. from an accredited law school with an active bar license in good standing.
- Significant experience in technology transactions, privacy, cybersecurity, data governance, regulatory compliance, professional responsibility, or related areas.
- Experience advising on AI, machine learning, technology governance, or emerging technology issues.
- Strong understanding of privacy, cybersecurity, vendor risk, intellectual property, and data use matters.
- Ability to collaborate across legal, technology, and business functions.
- Exceptional communication skills and sound business judgment.
