The Investments team oversees the investment strategy and asset management for Amherst's $15bn real estate portfolio and is looking for underwriters who will work in a fast-paced, quantitatively driven environment and are comfortable managing and streamlining various high-impact projects and decisions across the portfolio. The underwriters in India are responsible for retail dispositions, underwriting, and ongoing asset management of a portfolio of single-family homes. This role sits at the Analyst level and serves as the initiating point of the disposition workflow, delivering underwriting outputs that feed into various downstream disposition workstreams.
Job Description (Primary Responsibilities) Underwrite single-family assets using market comparables to determine accurate rent and valuation in support of disposition pricing, with due diligence and precision taking priority over volumeOwn assigned regions and provide market-level feedback and key insights to the disposition strategy teamDevelop a strong understanding of market-level dynamics and nuances, and translate them into underwriting decisions and regional insightsSupport ad-hoc regional analysis and market research projects related to disposition strategy
Desired Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or CFA designation is a plus. Specialty focus in Real Estate or Finance preferred2+ years of relevant experience in underwriting, brokerage, or other real estate-related disciplines.
Prior real estate knowledge and experience are required; exposure to US real estate or single-family residential (SFR) is a strong plusWorking knowledge of Microsoft Excel; comfortable working with data tools more broadlyTop-ranked performer with a track record of success (academic, professional)Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with internal and external professionalsDemonstrates analytical rigor, critical thinking, and attention to detail with a consistent and reliable outputSelf-starter with an adaptable mindset and the ability to work independently in a high-intensity environmentStrong time management skills with the ability to handle high underwriting volume while maintaining accuracy and due diligence as the primary standardDesire to work on a highly collaborative, fast-paced team
