As a Cyber Security Technician Apprentice, you'll play an important role in helping protect our people, systems and information. Working alongside experienced IT and Security professionals, you'll develop the skills and knowledge required to identify cyber risks, support security operations, and contribute to a strong security culture across the business. Location This role will be based at our Birmingham office with opportunities for hybrid working where appropriate.
Occasional travel to other Tilbury Douglas locations may be required as part of your development. What you’ll be doing As a Cyber Security Technician Apprentice, you'll gain practical experience across a range of cyber security activities while working towards the Level 3 Cyber Security Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Support the monitoring and maintenance of security controls designed to protect company systems and information.
Assist with identifying, investigating and escalating potential cyber security incidents. Help maintain cyber security policies, standards and procedures. Support information security audits and compliance reviews.
Assist with maintaining security risk registers and tracking remediation activities. Help monitor vulnerabilities and support actions to reduce cyber security risks. Contribute to cyber security awareness campaigns and training activities across the business.
Assist with access management processes, ensuring users have appropriate permissions. Support the management of security documentation, records and reporting. Work with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to help maintain secure systems and services.
Assist with the investigation of suspicious activity and contribute to incident response activities. Develop knowledge of security frameworks, legislation, standards and industry best practice. What we’re looking for GCSEs (or equivalent) including English, Maths and ICT/Computer Science An interest in cyber security, technology and digital systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately.
Experience of Microsoft Office applications (desirable but not essential).
