About the Opportunity
Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Career Education will report to an Associate Director in the Experiential Education and Career Development department. The role focuses on providing career coaching, program management, and support for students, employers and alumni, primarily on the Boston Campus but throughout the Northeastern University global network. Responsibilities include individualized student support, delivery of career development workshops, and participation in campaigns to promote career exploration, job seeking and employer engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree is required.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in career services, recruiting, workforce development or higher education.
- Experience advising students or early‑career professionals and the ability to translate industry dynamics into accessible guidance.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to engage diverse audiences through presentations and facilitated learning experiences.
- Strong organizational skills and a track record of designing and managing efficient systems, programs and events.
- Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, collaborative environments and manage shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive practice and building authentic relationships across diverse cultures, backgrounds and identities.
- Proficiency with career management platforms (e.g., Handshake) and labor market intelligence tools (e.g., Lightcast, LinkedIn Talent Insights) as well as AI‑enabled career development tools.
- Occasional flexibility to work a schedule that supports programming and events.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Career Advising & Student Coaching – Provide individualized and small‑group advising and coaching to students and recent graduates; guide job search strategies, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation and offer evaluation.
- Programming Design & Delivery – Design, deliver and continuously improve programming that spans job search activities such as industry exploration, networking, mock interviews, career fairs, employer showcases and salary negotiation; partner with the career development team, faculty, student organizations and employer partners.
- Data Capture & Evaluation – Capture and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and refine offerings accordingly.
- Departmental Initiatives – Assist with special projects including career fairs, employer visits, networking events and engagements with prospective, incoming, current and graduating students; support ideation, planning, logistics and delivery of both small and large‑scale events.
Compensation
Grade/Pay Type: 107S – Expected Hiring Range: $53,615.00 – $75,728.75. Salary will depend on education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise.
