About the Role
The Company is in search of an Assistant General Counsel with a focus on real estate to join their team. The successful candidate will be a practical, business-minded real estate attorney responsible for leading the legal work that supports the commercial lease portfolio. This role involves owning real estate matters from negotiation to ongoing portfolio management, and requires close collaboration with company leadership, real estate brokers, outside counsel, and project-management teams.
The Assistant General Counsel will be tasked with leading the review, drafting, and negotiation of various real estate agreements, providing regular updates to stakeholders, and identifying and mitigating legal and business risks associated with real estate transactions. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, be an active member in good standing with the New York State Bar, and have 3-5 years of legal experience in drafting and negotiating commercial real estate leases. Strong skills in drafting, negotiation, communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving are essential.
The role also requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to manage multiple active matters while collaborating effectively in a remote environment. While not mandatory, experience in the healthcare industry, familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements, and knowledge of ADA compliance for commercial spaces are considered advantageous. The ideal candidate will be adept at using various legal and contract management tools to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of their work.
