Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Attitudes Employer: Acorn Care and Education Location: The Wenlock School, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 3SB Pay: £50,000 per year Contract: Permanent – Term Time Only Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday (8:15 am - 4:30 pm Monday, 8:15 am - 3:45 pm Friday) Closing Date: 18/06/2026 About the Role We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour & Attitudes to join the Senior Leadership Team at The Wenlock School. The role is more than a leadership position; it is an opportunity to drive meaningful change, champion inclusive practice and create an environment where pupils and staff can thrive together. Key Responsibilities Lead whole‑school behaviour, attitudes and pastoral strategies.
Embed trauma‑informed and relational approaches across the school. Use data and evidence to drive improvement in behaviour, attendance and wellbeing. Lead and maintain robust safeguarding and pastoral systems.
Coaching, supporting and developing staff to promote consistent practice. Build strong relationships with pupils, families and external agencies. Lead reintegration, intervention and personalised support pathways.
Contribute to whole‑school improvement as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. Qualifications and Experience Degree qualified in Education, Psychology or a related field. Inspirational and confident leader with experience in behaviour, pastoral or SEND leadership.
Passionate about creating inclusive environments where every child can succeed. Skilled in trauma‑informed practice, emotional regulation and behaviour support. Exceptional communicator who builds positive relationships easily.
Calm, resilient and solution‑focused under pressure. Experience in leading teams and driving positive change. Deeply committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
