Summary
The Assistant Manager assists and advises the Store Manager in overall operations and administrative duties, supports policy enforcement, and provides outstanding customer service. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control and is trained in Store Manager responsibilities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in controlling assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Inform the Store Manager of inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including assisting customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and memos.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, conduct interviews, training, assign work, resolve problems, and comply with relevant laws.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and maintaining overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑player passionate about customer service and merchandise sales.
